On August 3, 2009, the Art Van organization announced that Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan would be granted a challenge gift in the amount of $50,000. This is second largest single gift ever granted to Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan, in its 58-year history. In response, Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan graciously accepted the Art Van gift challenge, and began the process of raising $50,000 in new gifts consistent with our pledge to the Art Van organization.

On February 1, 2010 Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan informed the Art Van Organization that CLF had met the initial $50,000 matching gift goal…a full six months ahead of schedule! CLF could never have reached this important milestone without the help and support of our many friends and supporters!

To build upon the Art Van organization’s kindness and to continue the momentum, we have agreed to set a “stretch goal” in the amount of $100,000. In essence, our stretch goal is to raise another $50,000 by the end of our fiscal year, June 30, 2010. In addition to our initial commitment to Art Van, we have now raised an additional $30,587 – over and above the first $50,000 CLF raised. For those of you that may not have participated in our fall campaign, we are asking you to join us in this rare opportunity to help CLF reach its “stretch goal” commitment to the Art Van organization by helping us raise the final $19,413.

Remember, every dollar given to our 2009 Fall Annual Fund Appeal was matched “dollar for dollar” by the Art Van organization. At a recent gathering, CLF received a check in the amount of $50,000 from Mr. Art Van Elslander, funds matched by Mr. Van Elslander in recognition of CLF meeting its initial challenge grant goal. We are grateful to Mr. Art Van Elslander and his team at Art Van for their extraordinary kindness and generosity in supporting thousands of Michigan patients and families struggling with leukemia, lymphoma or one of the other blood cancers
